Proxima, a new benefit corporation launched in early 2024 in Utah, aims to overcome barriers to higher education, particularly in the healthcare sector, which faces significant workforce shortages. In partnership with the Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Foundation, Proxima helps marginalized communities create healthcare career plans, connect to training, and secure employment, addressing challenges such as financial, social, and geographical obstacles.

Using a “care team” approach, Proxima engages potential learners and supports them through various stages of training in roles like Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Medical Assistants (MA), and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). With around 130 participants already involved, Proxima emphasizes the importance of continued support and structured guidance in helping students navigate their career paths and achieve long-term success in healthcare careers.
