Proxima’s mission is to expand education access to create a new and constant flow of work-ready healthcare professionals. It will take all of us – health care employers, educators, community-based organizations, and policy-makers – to engage those who have run into barriers keeping them from higher education and healthcare careers. Proxima’s job is to find these individuals, create a career plan, connect them to training and job readiness resources, and stay with them through job placement and career advancement. We will need partners across communities and institutions to bring a network of support into closer proximity with every participant.

We guide participants to flexible certificate and degree programs, financial aid solutions, and student success and basic needs resources, while providing mentors at each step of the process. We Need Educators
Utah’s collaborative, student-centered, and innovative education partners are critical to our mission.
We need high schools, technical institutes and GED-granting institutions as we identify students experiencing barriers to health career education. Together we’ll support their near-term success and long-term career planning.
We need colleges and universities to find innovative ways to execute on our participants’ career plans. Our goal is to promote utilization of your student success and health care training infrastructure while we create innovative cohort types and pathways in collaboration with our employer partners.

Why Join As An Educator
- Increased Enrollment— Our passion is in connecting with students who experience barriers – whether financial, social, or perception-based – that keep them from engaging in health care career training. We will work closely with you to incorporate your programming into the early career-planning conversations with our participants. This will enable us to paint a vision of achievability with our participants who might not have pursued higher education without Proxima’s support.
- Student Persistence and Completion— Our Proxima navigators work closely with participants to identify barriers and to connect to available resources to address them. Critically, our navigators will make sure that students are taking full advantage of advising, student success, and other resources at your institution, in addition to connecting to other sources of community support where helpful. This means that our participants are more likely to successfully and timely complete their program of study.
- Employment and Advancement— We stay with our participants until they land the job with our employer partners AND we make sure they have a roadmap for what their continued career advancement will look like. In many cases this roadmap will include continued education at your institution. In each case this means that their education will have an near-term impact on their employment and upward mobility.
- Broader Societal Impact— By partnering, we’ll address state workforce priorities, expand clinical placement opportunities, and increase community wealth and health.
